Regimental number: 880420, Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992/93/166, Box: 5569-51, Item No. 528779, PDF: B5569-SO51. Born 20/02/1897 at Brighton, England. The son of Mark and  Annie M. (Barber) Lemmon (mother). A single labourer. Serving with the 21st Batt. (Active) at Windsor, ON. Service with ‘B’ Company 106th Batt. Attestation at Chatham, ON. 4/03/1916 to 186th overseas Batt.

Age 19 years, Height: 5’ 8 ½ “, Girth: 35 ½”, Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair: light Brown, weight :- 130. lbs. Occupation: Shipping Clerk.    

Pte. Percy Lemmon went overseas with the 186th Battalion March 26th, 1917, and after training at Bramshott, proceeded to France, attached to the 18th Battalion. He was promoted to Lance Corporal. At Lens August 21st, 1917, he had his right leg shattered below the knee, necessitating amputation; and also two gunshot wounds in the left leg. He was admitted to Hospital and invalided to Canada in January 1918.

Departed Halifax, NS. aboard the S. S. Lapland, sailed 25/03/17. Date of service in France 16/06/17. Reported debarked in England at Liverpool.7/04/17. Serving with the 18th Batt. in France. Taken on Strength at Camp Bramshott 7/04/17. Transferred to 4th Cdn. Reserves – TOS with 18th Batt. to France 18/08/17 to 22/08/17 

27/08/17 received GSW to right leg shattered from middle to ankle and injury to left leg. 23 C.C.S. 5th General Hospital 24/10/17Dangerously Wounded! Primary amputation to right leg wounded to mid-calf, Sutured clean. Two incised Bipps and sutured. By 16/10’17 stump healed. General condition good. In capacity 45% Other hospital Percy was admitted : 1st South General – Dudley Road, England, 27/08/17, 57 days. Then No. 5 Cdn. General – Kirkdale 24/10/17, for 60 days 

He had a 5” stump which healed in two months with some tenderness in the centre of the stump. His general condition was ‘Good’. He was measured for a leg and given a one month leave. 22/o6/18 Leg was ready for fit. The finished led was fitted 27/05/18. Problem with fif waiting for new bucket (the device that holds the leg to the stump), waiting from 29/05/18 to 3/07/18 then a socket ordered 3/07/18. By September all was OK.    

As part of his return he was allowed a leave with a support 5/06/18. 19/06/18 sub cease to 22/06/18. 10/07/18 Leave with support 13/07/18. !8/09/18 Percy was posted to Cas (Remang in MOH 26/18. SO.S. – Discharged ‘PHY. UNFIT’ on 3 months PDP.

Invalided to Canada 19/12/17.  His Right leg was shattered from the middle to ankle, required primary amputation. Right leg mid-calf sutured clean  Left leg wounded.

Discharged from Davisville Military Hospital Sept 29th 1918 unfit for further military service.

Percy was discharged age 21 years. Service in England and France. Dated 26/09/18.

He married 3 Apr. 1920, to Nora A Croucher, they had no children. Employed as a shipping clerk. Medical Board complete
