Of Ridgetown, ON., he was serving with the Carleton & York Regt. in Italy when he suffered a serious back wound as the result of an accident in 18th of September of 1943. He had been in hospital for some time in Sicily before returning to Canada.
It was reported that Signalman Legue was aborad the hospital train which left Halifax 5 Jan., 1944 enroute to Chatham. This was part of the second large contingent of wounded men brought to Canada aborad the hospital ship Lady Nelson. Upon arriving in London, ON. and stepping down from the hospital car he said “You can’t put it in words, but it’s a wonderful feeling.” MC-RH, BFL-B, MA-MH,CDN 6/01/44.
