Prior to enlisting Albert worked as a section worker on the railroad. Attestation: 22/01/1916 at Glencoe, ON. to 135th O.S. Bn. Reference: GR150, Accession:1992-93/166, Box: 5457-51, Item: 521017, PDF: B5457-SO51. Albert was reported WIA 31/03/17 ‘Shellshock’ In the Field. He rejoined the Regt. WSM 1/04/17  in the CDP 27/04/1917 at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. 

Age: 32 Yrs. 10 mths., Height: 5’ 8 ½ “, Girth: 37”, Complexion” Fair, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Dark Brown. Medical 22/01/16 at Glencoe, ON. “Fit” 28/01/16. Weight 150 #.

Pte with the 4th Bn. transferer from the 135th Bn.. It was noted that his teeth ‘needed attention”.

Margaret was reported living at 182 Park Ave. East, Chatham, ON. CVWM. Also reported as living on Baxter St., Chatham. He was survived by his widow, one daughter and three step-sons, one of the step sons was in the CMR. BT 7/06/17.

He was later reported KIA 4/05/17 ‘In the Field’ Rouen, France Reported in the CDP 26/05/1917 (P). Margaret was reported living at 182 Park Ave., East, Chatham, ON. CVWM. Also reported as living on Baxter St., Chatham. He was survived by his widow, one daughter and three step-sons, one the step son was in the CMR. BT 7/06/17.  At one time it was reported the Margaret was living at 198 Wellington St. East, Chatham, ON.

KIA – Date of Death: 4/05/1917, age 41 years. VIMY MEMORIAL.

The Memorial Cross would have gone to the mother of the fallen soldier, but Albert’s mother had passed away so it went to his widow. The Memorial Scroll was received 5/03/1921 and the Memorial Plaque, usually goes to the male of the family . Since there was no adult male came to Margaret as well.
