Born in 1923 at Sterling Scotland. The son of William Arthur (A50437) and Alexandria Laurie of 163 Wellington St., East, Chatham, ON., the brother of John Alfred (CDN171), William Alexander (A49543) and Laughlin C. (87012).

Dickson served in the RCNVR aboard HMCS Ottawa. AB Laurie was one of three Kent County men aboard the destroyer HMCS. “OTTAWA” in the sinking of a German U-boat in concert with the Canadian destroyer HMCS Kootenay and the British corvette HMS Statice.  

The CDN 27/10/44(P) reported that “The action was a measure of revenge for the first Canadian destroyer of that name was torpedoed off Newfound land in 1942.” The two other ratings AB  Percy Drewery of Chatham and Stoker Donald Parker.   

Date of discharge is unknown.

Dickson passed away 1 December,1989.
