Regimental number: 844756, Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 5335 – 42, Item: 511196, PDF: B5355-SO42. Date of Birth: 4/05/1880 at Highgate, Kent Co., ON. N of K: Rhea Landon, wife, living on Nelson St., Petrolia, ON. A tinsmith by trade. Previously served in 3rd. RCR – Halifax, NS. for 1 ½ years.

 Attestation: 31/03/1916 at Petrolia, age 30 years to 205th Batt. transferred to 149th Batt. Height: 6’ ½”. Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Curly black. Transferred to No.2 Construction Batt.

Pte. Landon was discharged as “medically unfit” –  “ 13/06/16 at age of 26 years. A slight varicocele on the left side.” Note: Varicoceles are large, twisted veins that drain blood from the testicles. They are much like varicose veins of the leg. He was also struck with a ball.   

The Medical Board decided that the the conditions above  made Pte Landon, “Unable to drill or do even police Duties.”  He had served only two months at Camp Borden, ON   They also reported a scar on the left Groin – from an operation done in London, ON., in April 1916.  present. He was presently working at 25% of ability after six months rest.  

Discharge date: 13/09/1916 at Camp Borden, ON.
