Corporal Wilfred Clayton LaMarsh trained three years with the 24th Kent Regiment, Chatham, Ontario.

Corporal Wilfred Clayton LaMarsh left Chatham August 19th, 1914, for Longbranch and Valcartier Camps. He sailed from Quebec September 25th, 1914, and disembarked at Devonport, England, October 18th, 1914. He proceeded to France with the 1st Canadian Battalion February 7th, 1915, and took part in the engagements of the second battle of Ypres, April 1915, Festubert, May 1915; Givenchy, June 15th, 1915, third battle of Ypres, June 1916, and the Somme, September and October 1916. He returned to England February 14th, 1917, for a cadet course in the Royal Flying Corps, trained at Brighton Cadet School, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the R.A.F. August 26th, 1917. He returned to France November 14th, 1918, posted to the 7th Division, Italy, where he served with the 35th Battery, 22nd Brigade, R.A.F. in Asiago Plateau, June 15th, 1918, and the Piave, October and November 1918 engagements. He left Italy January 13th, 1919, and was demobilized at London, England, January 21st, 1919.

Second Lieutenant Wilfred Clayton LaMarsh was demobilized to the Special Reserve of Officers at Wimbledon, London, England, January 21st, 1919.
