Unit # Canadian Army - Westminster Regt. (Motor)

Gordon served with in the Army with the Westminster Regiment [Motor]. 

Gordon was 27 years old serving with the Canadian Army in Italy, was officially reported to have been KIA on September 27, 1944 in Italy.  His parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Laidlaw of Sandwich Street East, Windsor.

He was born near Chatham but lived in Windsor most of his life and graduated from the Prince Edward and Windsor Vocational Schools.  Lt. Laidlaw enlisted in September 1939 a few days after the outbreak of war and went overseas three years before.

He had a brother P.O. Malcolm Laidlaw with the RCAF overseas.  There are two brothers, James and Harold of Windsor, and two sisters, Ruth at home and Mrs. W.E. Bernhardt of Huntingdon, QC. at the time of his death.  Lt. Laidlaw’s widow, Mrs. Anita Laidlaw and a small son, Larry, live in New Westminster, B.C.
