The son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben  Knister. The husband of Mrs. Leonard Mildred (nee Vickerman) of Comber, Tilbury North. He had two brothers Carman in the Army in Italy and Dean of Comber: two sisters Mrs. Gayle Taylor of Royal Oak, Michigan and Mrs Gaines William of Tilbury West Twsp. 

Leonard enlisted at the beginning of hostilities and went overseas early of 1940. He married Mildred (nee Vickerman) the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Vickerman.  She received official advice  that her husband had been killed in action in France. CDN 10/08/44
