The son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kivell, of 84 Lorne Ave., Chatham, ON. The husband of Mildred (nee Osborne), at the time the father of a son.
Edmund enlisted in August of 1944 and had been on active service with the RCN. This was only the second time he saw his son.
Served on Convoy duty, going part way over and returning to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Made two trips to Scotland. Promoted to the rank of Ordinary Seaman.
The CDN 23/02/45 published a photo of five generations in the Kivell family: Mrs. Norman (mother), Mrs. E. D. Perry, AS Edmond with eleven month son, and Mrs. Norman Carson.
Discharged November 16th, 1945.
