Pte. J. Wesley Kinnaird went overseas in November 1916, proceeding to France in December 1916, transferring to the 32nd Royal Engineers. He was in the line from Albert to St. Eloi, and was promoted to Corporal, but contracted trench fever in March and was transferred to Scotland for treatment, returning to Canada in September 1917.

Corporal J. Wesley Kinnaird received his honorable discharge March 11th, 1918, and later took a position with the Dominion Police, being stationed at Iroquois Falls as Assistant Inspector for this section of Ontario.
