
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy King of Jeanette’s Creek, Kent Co., ON. The husband of Phyllis Edwina Turner, who was born in England. Jack was born on 29/05/1919 at Wiltshire, England. He was the father of Diane and Jeanette (Poissant).
Jack was reported living at R.R.#2 Tilbury when he enlisted in the Kent Regt.
Jack was reported home on furlough in January of 1942 from his training at a special electrical course at New Glasgow. TT 1/01/42. In July of 1942 John and brother Tom were home in Tilbury. Their younger brothers were Clive and George. Jack would be returning to his regiment in New Westminster, BC and Tom to Halifax, Nova Scotia. CDN 1/07/42
In March of 1943 he was reported to be with the 1st Kent Regt. while on leave at his parents home. TT 4/03/43. Jack would serve overseas in Sicily, Belgium, Holland (Nijmegen).
In 1946 Jack was awarded the Belgium Croix de Guerre 1940 with Palms “in recognition of distinguished services in the cause of the Allies”.
Jack passed away 1990 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. CDN-Obit 20/02/16 wife.
