Born 3/09/1925 and raised in Ridgetown, ON. The son of Frederick George and Margaret Edna (nee Campbell) Kennedy. Married to Shirley Anne (nee Varney), the father of Anne and Jim. CDN 12/09/52.
Kyle was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals to play professional baseball and he was also an avid basketball player and was part of the Senior A Championship team for Ontario.
He served as a Signalman in the RCNVR during the Second World War. While serving aboard HMCS Strathadam he would be involved in the search for and the ultimate sinking of the German submarine U-1302 in 1945. He was reported as WIA [unknown date].
Kennedy joined the Navy at HMCS Hunter in Windsor and was transferred to Edmonton, AB. and from there to HMCS Cornwallis, NS. where he was trained as a anti-aircraft gunner. Kyle had been in Northern Ireland since he went overseas in January 1943. CDN 109/08/44 He served as a Signalman in the RCNVR during the Second World War. The 19 year old AB. seaman had been serving overseas for the past eight months reported the CDN 10/08/44.
After the war he was involved in organizing Little League baseball, played and coached hockey, and was a golfer. He was a partner of his wife Shirley in Kennedy & Kennedy Real Estate. Kyle had children Jim and Anne. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 243, the Howard Lodge, and the MOCHA Shrine Club.
Kyle passed away Thursday, 10 October, 2013 at Victoria Hospital, London, ON. at the age of 88 years.
