Piper John F. Kennedy served four years in the 5th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, Scotland; and also two years as Sergeant with the 24th. Kent Regiment, Chatham.
Piper John F. Kennedy after enlistment, was sent in command to Chatham for recruiting purposes. Was recalled October 1st, leaving for overseas April 30th, on the “Olympic” arriving in England May 5th, 1917. He was moved from Dibgate to West Sandling, and was to cross to France attached to the 15th Battalion, when he received injuries to his eyesight, necessitating being placed in Hospital at Westcliffe, and was returned to Canada.
Piper John F. Kennedy received his honorable discharge December 31st, 1917, after convalescence in London, Ontario.
