Harold enlisted 11 July, 1944, trained at No. 12 BTC., No. 1 District Depot Windsor, Camp Ipperwash and No. 2 transit Camp, Digby, NS. Pte Kemp was sent oversea 18/12/1944 arriving in England on Christmas Day 1944.
Harold was flown to North West Europe 12/02/1945 joining the Lincoln and Welland Regt. going immediately into action against the Germans defending the Rhine River against allied invasion of Germany.
Date of Death: 21/04/1945, Killed in actions around the Twenthe and Kusten Canals in Germany. Reported killed “instantly” by a German sniper while scanning the lay of the land with binoculars.

Supplemental Information | Son of Holly and Hazel Kemp, of 108 Emma St.,Chatham, Ontario. Attended school at first in Louisville at S.S. # 3, Chatham Twsp. before the family moved to Emma St. Once in Chatham Harold and his brother Elmer attended Blessed Sacrament School. He attended high school at Chatham Vocational School. As a boy he was a News carrier for the Chatham Daily News. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead, Grave/Memorial Reference: X. A. 15.
