Regimental Number: Unknown. Alphonse (age 5 years), his two brothers and their parents came to Canada from Zeeland, in 1925 came to Chatham. Settled on Princess St. and also at Merlin during the sugar beet harvest.  When Alphonse was 21 years he enlisted in the Essex Scottish Regiment. In 1941. He was stationed in England for a short time and then returned home when the war was over.

He married his wife in Amsterdam in 1945.
