Dr. and Mrs. Kearns was feted by the Roman Catholic perishes in Bothwell and Wardsville before he was leaving for military service in St. John’s NB. In May of 1941. Mrs. Kearns and family were going to stay in London for a short time before moving to St. John’s. A gift of a leather travelling case containing military and clothes brushes, Mrs. George Brearley presented him with a Bulova wrist watch from the people of Bothwell and Members of the St. John’s Ambulance presented a leather case of shaving and toilet articles.
