Son of Albert and Grace Judd of Tilbury. Albert was a Great War veteran. Educated at Tilbury Public School and Continuation School. He had one sister, Charlotte Ella Phaneuf, nee Judd, living in Windsor, ON. Prior to his enlistment he was employed in a Tilbury factory. An ace pitcher on the junior baseball team.  He had the nickname of “Slim”.  

Clarence enlisted in the Essex Scottish on Windsor, 11 January, 1940, receiving his basic training at Camp Borden, ON.

Reported as MIA on the Dieppe Raid in the Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942.  Later reported a POW from Dieppe Raid in 1942.  The CDN 5/10/42 (P) reported that Clinton had been a POW in Germany, captured after the Dieppe Raid.
