A decomposed body was found in McGregor’s Creek beneath the Tecumseh Park bridge shortly after ten o’clock 18 August, 1942. “The body had apparently been in warm and filthy water for a considerable length of time.”

The mystery of found body took on more mystery when the Provincial Police connected the body of Sgt. Jordan with a rotted uniform found in the Thames River on 22 July. They had been investigating with the aid of the RCMP trying to find the Sergeant-Pilot’s winter uniform which was folded in a suitcase with a German grammar book. At the time of the finding of the body, “Whether or not Jordon was the owner of the suitcase and the mysterious contents has not been definitely established. CDN 18/08/42.
