Born in Chatham, ON. 25 January, 1913. The son of Walter Jones and brother of Mrs. W. H. McLaren. Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). He served two years with the 2nd Kent Regt.
Trained at Hamilton and Clinton and was stationed on the West Coast.
The CDN 20/04/43 LAC, R183932 Jones was a radio technician after completing his course at Hamilton, ON. He left for Toronto to take up his new duties. The CDN 20/05/43 reported LAC Jones was at the at the Manning Pool at Toronto, ON. He was on a leave to visit his parents on Stone Ave., Chatham, ON. The CDN 3/09/43 reported that Lionel was departing for the west coast after a leave with his father.
The CDN 20/05/44 reported LAC Jones with the RCAF, R183932. Lionel was training on the west coast when he spent a few days with his father. CDN 20/05/44 Lionel was stationed on the west coast of British Columbia, a radar operator on the most northerly coastal island.
