He enlisted in June of 1940 joining the RCAMC in London, ON. in December of 1942 prior to going overseas. His time in London, England at No. 10 Canadian General Hospital where he worked for a year and a half, was relatively safe, “due to the heavy intense ack-ack fire”, few enemy planes reached the heart of London.
Upon arriving back in Chatham in April of 1944 to spend time with his wife Mary C. and young son Donald, they also have a son Sgt. Howard Jones serving in the RCAF who was serving overseas; he was to report back for duty on 1st of May. CDN 11/04/44. [ P/O. Howard Jones was KIA 13/05/44]
