Prior to the war Jack was employed at the Ridgetown Experimental Farm. Married and the father of P/O James Howard Jones, J90284, 426 Sqd., RCAF.

Jack enlisted in 1940 with the RCAMC and was serving in England since December of 1942 at No. 10 Canadian General Hospital in December of 1943 when he met his son Sgt. James Howard who had just arrived overseas.
