Before going overseas Lieut. Jones enlisted with the First Kents and spent some time at No.12 BTC and was also on the staff at Brockville, ON. CDN 14/08/(P) The CDN 5/06/43 reported that Lieut. Ira E. Jones was recovering in the Kingston Military Hospital after his recent operation.
Went overseas and served in England and Italy, where he was wounded and hospitalized four months.
The CDN 29/12/44 reported that Mrs. Anna Jones had received a message she received on the 28th of December advising her that her husband was improving from his bullet wounds in the left loin and back received in Italy.
Next of kin reported as Mrs. O. Jones of 167 Patteson Avenue, Chatham, ON. Reported arriving from overseas duty aboard the transport S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam, arriving at Halifax, NS. CDN 29/09/45.
Discharged November 20th, 1945.
