Next of Kin: Dora Beatrice Jones (wife) of 188 Selkirk St., Chatham ON. They had a son Lawrence William Jones 17 months of age. A Farmer. Address R.R.#1 Eberts.

Attestation: 8/04/1916 at Chatham, ON. to 186th Overseas Batt. Age: 26 years, Height 5’ 8”, Girth: 39”, Complexion: Fair, Eyes Gray, Hair: Light Brown. Medical 8/04/16 at Chatham, ON. March 1917 transfer to Forestry Batt. from 122 Batt.    

Departed from Halifax, NS. aboard the S.S. Olympic departed 28/05/17 and disembarked  at Liverpool, England 9/06/17. His date of service in France from 27/06/17.  Private Christopher Jones was transferred form the 186th Battalion to the 122nd Muskoka Battalion, Galt, arriving in England June 11th, 1917. He crossed to France June 26th, serving with a Red Cross Hospital for a time, but was later transferred to No.44 Canadian Forestry Corps, working in the forests of Northern France. He reported at Etaples December 2nd, 1918, and at Sunningdale, England, December 18th, 1918, embarking for Canada January 29th, 1919.

It was about this time that he contracted Varicocele: Varicocele (VAR-ih-koe-seel) is an enlargement of the veins within the loose bag of skin that holds your testicles (scrotum). A varicocele is similar to a varicose vein you might see in your leg. Varicoceles are a common cause of low sperm production and decreased sperm quality, which can cause infertility.

Note: Left Varicocelelarge extends slightly below, behind and above the testicles, Left testicles slightly atrophied,. He complained of pain at times due to Varicocele, especially on marching. Treatment with a suspensory. Does not appear in the record.   He was transferred to Special Service – Class “C” in the Forestry Batt. 3/05/1 

As a result Christopher was Medically Unfit. There was also the loss  of his little toe on his left foot. WSB – Class A & B. He was awarded a GCB 13/04/18. Christopher was also granted a 14 day leave 7/09/18. He was transferred to England 14/12/18. 

29/01/1919 he sailed from Liverpool.

Christopher was TOS 29/01/1919 to No.1 DD. 8/02/19 he was posted to the Casualty Coy with leave 26/02/19. He was Discharged from HMS as ‘Medically unfit 10/04/19.
