Private Joiner served with the Imperial Yeomen in the South African War, and trained six years with the 24th Kent Regiment, Chatham, Ontario.
He went overseas with the 1st Canadian Contingent in Sept. 1914, proceeding to France, Feb. 5, 1915, with the 1st Canadian Battalion.
He served through all engagements until June 15, 1915 when he was killed in action.
