The Wallaceburg News (date unknown) reported that Thomas had completed his torpedo course at the Royal Naval College – Halifax. He was granted a 26 day leave at his mothers home. He was scheduled to leave 18 August, 1944 for the assignment aboard a Canadian Frigate at Victoria, BC.
