The son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Johnston formerly of Chatham then living in Toronto, ON. He had a sister Mrs. Fred O’Rourke who was living in Chatham.
John enlisted in the RCAF in August of 1942 at Toronto and had been overseas for a year and a half. He was reported missing in action on 21 November. CDN 27/11/44
