Captain of 42 Robertson Ave., Chatham, ON. The husband of Marjorie D. E. residing in Chatham. Capt. Johnson enlisted with 1st Kents when mobilized under the command of Lt. Col. T. E. Codlin, upon which he was made adjutant. The CDN 24/20/44 reported that Capt. Johnston continued in that position stationed at Chatham, London, Halifax, Niagara Falls, New Westminster and Terrace, BC. He was drafted, going overseas in 1943. While in England he held a post with the Civil Administration of the affairs in re-occupied countries in Europe.
He was later posted to SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) at the HQ in Versailles, France. From there he was appointed to the Canadian War Crimes Investigation Unit, headquartered in London, England. It was for his activities that he was mentioned in dispatches. CDN 8/08/45(P).
