Regimental number: 844624 Reference:  RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 4853 – 46, Item: 334288, PDF: B4853-SO46  Date of Birth 15/10/1892 at  Walpole Island, ON. N of K: Wellington Johnson, (brother) of Muncey Reserve, ON. A single farmer living on Walpole Island.

Member 26th Regt. Attestation: 2/02/1916 at Sarnia, ON to 149th Bn.

7 April, 1917, Byron arrived in England aboard the S. S. Lapland and was taken TOS with the 25th Batt. at Bramshot, England. On 25 November, 1917 he was posted to 2nd Overseas (now known as 2nd Pnr-Bn-C E10 03 13. [Pioneer Batt.]. He arrived in France 25 November, 1917 he was wounded while in the field. 

Pte. Byron was admitted to Canadian General Hospital  13/08/1918 for a gunshot wound to the head. He survived the GSW and was ordered to be transferred to the Neurological Centre in Toronto. It was reported that Pte. Johnson had arrived in Canada 1 October, 191 

 Invalided to Canada 12/09/1918 for treatment and was discharged being medically unfit for service
