Born in 1924 the son of Victoria Jewiss. He was living at 317 Queen St., Chatham. Victor was the all-star goalie of the Queen Mary School hockey team.
Victor enlisted in September of 1942 with the 2nd Kents, A470689, (Boy),. Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Underaged enlistment. Before transferring to the RCNVR. Victor and his brother Edmund ‘Eddie’ were reported on a week-end leave at their parents home on Queen St., Chatham. CDN 21/09/42. He departed for a Canadian port to report for duty. Victor celebrated his 18th birthday on 25 November. Victor and his brother Edmund, who had been in the Navy since January of 1942.
The CDN 31/03/43 reported Victor had been spending his furlough with his parents on Queen St. returned to the east coast to resume his duties.
The CDN 4/06/43 reported that Ordinary Seaman Victor Jewiss was convalescing from a throat operation and was on a ten day furlough. He was staying at his parents Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Jewiss on Queen St., Chatham.
The CDN 22/02/44 reported that AB. Victor was on a fourteen day leave to visit his parents in Chatham.
Transferring to the Navy. Served with the 2nd Kents for two years as a bugler.
Victor passed away 17/07/08.
