Rank Captain Reverend

The son of the late Rev. Samuel Jamieson at one time the minister of the Valetta Presbyterian Church, Kent Co. Capt. Jamieson was a student of the Chatham Collegiate Institute.

The Canadian forces list of gallantry awards appeared the following:

Captain Rev. Graham Moffatt Jamieson, 35, of Toronto, won the Military Cross (MC), for disregarding his own safety in tending wounded and dead under heavy fire.

The following is submitted by nephew, Mark Wallace MacKay:  Graham was in some very challenging conditions in WWII as he served with the Regina Rifles; landing in Courseulles sur Mer, and then progressing on to confront the Hitler Youth detachment, among others Nazis. This battle is well documented here:  https://www.veterans.gc.ca/fr/remembrance/memorials/regina-rifles

You can read and see a pic of Graham while fighting with the RR regiment here (see pg 18 of this document):  https://scholars.wlu.ca/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1466&context=cmh

Graham helped to disable the tank in the article. Lapointe is credited with destroying the tank.
He also went north for a time into the low countries – he is referred to in the book by Tim Cook “The Cinderella Campaign”.

Graham returned to Canada after the war, and obtained his doctorate (PhD) from Columbia University in New York. His degree was in religious studies, I can’t recall this specific specialty (divinity? I think). He was married to Rebecca Fraser MacKay around 1942. They did not have any children.

After graduating, Graham was employed at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania PA in the USA. I believe he started that job around 1962/3. He was a lecturer in the religion studies dept.  He retired on or about 1980 and returned to Canada. He passed away in April/May 1984. He is buried at the Old Stone Church, in Beaverton Ontario. The chapel is one where he preached as a young minister in the late 40’s and 50’s.

Here is some information of Graham’s Military Cross award, it is described in full here:
