Son of Jeanie James of Walpole Island. A single farmer living on Walpole Island. Attestation: 28/02/1916 at Port Lampton, ON. to 149th Bn. Cpl Roy James married Marjorie Atkinson, the daughter of Pte. and Mrs. James Atkinson of Chatham. The marriage took place in the Dufferin Avenue Manse next to Park St., United Church, Chatham. The couple honeymooned at eastern points. CDN 17/08/42

Served at various points with the Kent Regiment, then transferred to the Princess of Wales Own Regiment. Served a year with  this unit and was honourably discharged due to an ailment. Promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Discharged September 25th, 1943.
