Private Jacobs left for overseas with the 70th battalion Apr. 21, 1916, proceeding to France June 15, drafted to the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles.

He participated in the engagements at Ypres and the Somme receiving fatal wounds Aug. 16, 1916.
