“Scotty”. Served with the First Kents before the Kents were mobilized. He was a member of the guard at the Chatham Armouries. He came to Canada from Scotland and it was understood that he had no relatives in Canada. She thought he had a cousin in Detroit.

Sgt. Hyde was billeted with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grimsell of 36 Alfred Street since his enlistment . Mrs. Grimsell was deeply grieved over his tragic death of the young soldier. “He was a fine boy and he seemed almost like a son.” DOAI 11/01/41. The other fatality was Sgt. George Harold Harrogate A49513 

 A court of inquiry was being arranged by Lt. Col. T.E. Codlin.
