The husband of Lois of 175 ½ Park Ave. East, Chatham, ON.

A one time ‘carrier boy’ for the Chatham Daily News, later he was employed at the Palmer’s Bakery, in Chatham, ON.

James enlisted with Kent Regt., but transferred to the First Base Workshop. He was reported as arriving safely in England in the CDN 22/05/42.

Served with the Kent Regiment (M.G.)

Trained in Canada until May 1942. Transferred to First Base Workshop and went overseas. Served in the United Kingdom. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Returned from overseas on leave, Sgt Merriott is reported living at 71 West St., Chatham, ON. with his wife. James enlisted with the Kent Regt. in July 1940 later transferred to RCEME. He had spent three and a half years overseas with the RCEME. The Sgt. returned aboard the troopship Cameronian. CDN 21/08/45(P).

Discharged September 24th, 1945.
