Private Humphrey trained at Toronto and Niagara-on-the-lake with the 124th battalion, embarking for overseas Aug. 8, 1916.
He was stationed at Bramshott Camp until Sept. 4, when he proceeded to France attached to the 18th battalion.
He received his first good conduct stripe Feb. 23, 1918.
During military operations in the vicinity of Vis-en-Artois, Aug. 28, he was hit by shrapnel from an enemy shell and instantly killed.
