Born at Kent Bridge, Chatham Twsp., Kent Co., ON. daughter of Thomas James Hughes and Eva Lydia Green.  The sister of James Roland (DFC), Raymond (KIA) and John serving overseas.

Maxine enlisted in the CWAC 6/07/43 and was discharged 30/10/45 at London, ON. The CDN 23/12/43 reported under the By-line “Kent Bridge”, at the time Cpl. Hughes stationed at Kitchener spent her Christmas with her parents in Kent Bridge.   

Maxine was reported visiting her parents in Kent Bridge for a “few days” after spending most of her two week furlough in New York City. CDN 17/02/44 The CDN 6/09/44 reported that Cpl. Hughes, stationed in Windsor was spending a two week furlough at her home in Kent Bridge.

Maxine was discharged 30/10/45 at London, ON.   Her married name was Maxine A’Lillias. BFL, CDN 16/01/45. The wife of Donald Fysh (pre-deceased), the mother of Jim (deceased) Ruth, Don, Bill, John, Robert, Carolyn and Stephen.

Maxine passed away 25/04/2011 at the age of 88 years, interment in Sherman cemetery, Thamesville, ON. CDN 27/04/2011.
