Major E. D. Hubbell left Canada with the First Contingent, proceeding to France March 1915. After serving fifteen months as Medical Officer with the 1st Canadian Field Ambulance, he was transferred to the 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade, and three months later to the No 7 Canadian General Hospital.
