Place of Enlistment: Windsor, Ontario. He served with the 2nd Kent Reserved Regiment from August 14, 1940 to March 1944.

The CDN15/08/44 reported that Alfred was returning to St. Hyacinthe after a week-end furlough with his wife and parents in Chatham. Alfred was reported returning to RCN-St. Hyacinthe, PQ. after a two week furlough. CDN 28/12/44

Trained at Ottawa, then to St. Hyacinth, Quebec for a wireless course, then to Halifax for posting. In January 1945 was sent to Grenock, Scotland. From there was sent to the Canadian Corvette Baddeck which was on Convoy duty from the Thames Estuary to the Port of Mufordhaven in the Bristol Channel, with trips to Flushing, Holland and to 198 West for England bound convoys. He was on the ship HMCS Baddeck. Termination of Overseas: June 9, 1945. Returned to Canada in June 1945 and was drafted to the Naval Wireless station at Newport Corners, Nova Scotia. Was on Staff there until March 1946.
Discharged April 8, 1946.
