James grew up in Dresden.

The DT 22/04/43 reported that L/Cpl. Houston, stationed at Camp Ipperwash was on a furlough for two weeks visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ern Houston of North Dresden. DT 22/04/43 After some time in the army he transferred from the army and to the air force. R88316, RCAF 408 Bomber Sqd.

He was and stationed in St. Thomas, P.E.I. before going to England. He served in 6 Group Bombers, stationed at Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire, England.

Cpl. In the army and transferred to the air force.

James was reported in the CDN 28/12/44 being on a 30 day leave after three years duty in England. He was at his parents Mr. and Mrs. Cal Houston in Dresden for Christmas.

Discharged July 16th, 1945.

The husband of Doris (nee Vansickle), the father of Linda (Brooks), Dale, Dan and Carol (Craig). James passed away in 2009, his wife Doris passed away 21/06/17 with internment at Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Herald-Obit 26/06/17(P), CDN 23/06/17  Obit-wife.

Member of the Thamesville RCL. James passed away 30 June, 2009.
