16TH Cdn. Inf. Bn.  RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 4500-30, Item 473508.  Born 17/09/1894 at Blenheim, ON. the son of William Hornby of Blenheim. A single engineer. Attestation: 14/10/1915 at Calgary, AB., at age of 21 years.

During the last tour in the trenches at PASSCHENDELE RIDGE Nov. 2nd 8th 1917 where the Battalion had heavy casualties, being under unremitting shell-fire, this man was indefatigable in his duties as Stretcher – Bearer, exposed himself to the greatest perils in order to render first aid to the wounded and superintend their conveyance to safety, His splendid services on this occasion as on many others, won the admiration of all ranks.
