18th Bn. Born in Lambton, Co., ON., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham ‘Abe’ Hooper, the brother of Ernest. Irvine was living and employed at the grist mill of Mr. A. McVean of Dresden prior to his enlistment. Private Irvine Hooper went overseas with the 18th Battalion April 15th, 1915, and proceeded to France September 15th, 1915. About July 1st, he received wounds necessitating his removal to England for treatment, but upon recovery he returned to France the latter part of April 1917.
Irvine enlisted in Chatham, ON. 4/11/14 and went overseas 15/04/1915 where he trained until September of 1915 when he was drafted to France joining the 18th Bn. Wounded in action 1/07/1916 resulting in being invalided to England for treatment and recouperation, certified fit he returned to France in late April of 1917.
After the war Irvine would return to Dresden and when WWII began he enlisted in the army again, changing his birth date to 1899 (still 42 years old) he served in Canada and England with the RCASC
Irvine would pass away 12/12/1965.
