DT 24/04/41. The son of James A. and Florence Holmes, his twin of Walter a younger brother Oliver. 

Wounded in both legs at Dieppe on August 19th, 1942.

The DT 27/08/42 reported that David and Walter were both wounded during the raid on Dieppe, France. David was reported wounded in both legs while his brother Walter was wounded in the left shoulder; both men were serving in the Essex Scottish Regt. Both had enlisted soon after the start of the war.

They were reported to be the “first casualties of the C.A.S.F. to be wounded from Dresden. Mrs. Holmes did receive a telegram from David “In hospital. Feel swell. Don’t worry” DAVID.

Discharged August 11th, 1945.
