Private Walter Hodge went overseas with the 91st Battalion in the spring of 1916, proceeding to France with a draft for the 38th Battalion. At the Somme, in November 1916, he was wounded in the right leg, and invalided to Canada in July 1917. While receiving medical treatment in a London Hospital, he had a severe accident, breaking his right thigh, which necessitated continued treatment until August 1918.
Private Walter Hodge received his Honourable Discharge August 2nd, 1918, being medically unfit for further military service.
