Trained in Canada. Transferred to the Essex Scottish Regiment and went overseas. Was seriously wounded and invalided home on the Lady Nelson Hospital Ship November 14th, 1944.
The son of Mrs. A. Hiller, 163 Thames St., Chatham, ON. Paul had a brother Cpl. Vincent Bernard. He was serving with the RCR and was WIA in December of 1943 in Italy and was in hospital in England.
Paul enlisted with the First Kent Regt and went overseas in March of 1943. While in England he transferred to the Essex Scottish Regt. He went to France 6 July, 1944. L/Cpl. Hiller. The CDN 2/09/44(P) [reported again date unknown] that L/Cpl. P. A. Hiller had been airlifted to England from France 19 August. In a letter to his mother, Paul wrote he was “progressing favorably”. He had received severe wounds necessitating the amputation of part of his right arm. “I can now move my fingers of the left arm and both of my arms are healing”. He went on to say that he was confident he would be returning to Canada very soon
