Arthur transferred to #1 C.S.R.U. and went overseas and was wounded during the fighting in Italy. Later he posted to the Saskatchewan Light Infantry.  He served in both the Mediterranean and Northwest European Campaigns, while serving the Netherlands Bronze Cross for conspicuous gallantry.

Arthur received the Bronze Cross from Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands on 8 December, 1945 as follows:
