Unit # RCAF, RCE- 30th Field Coy

Born in Wallaceburg in 1906. The son of David James and Maude (nee Dustin) Hill. The brother of Donald and Terrace, sister Rose living at 438 Nelson St.or 311 James Street, Wallaceburg.  Predeceased by four sisters and a brother. The husband of Elsie Claire (nee Shaw) CDN 14/02/46. David attended Public  School and Wallaceburg High School. He worked at farming, the Dominion Sugar Co. and Greenmerk Ltd. before he enlisted.

David enlisted in fall of 1942. Trained at BTC No. 12-Chatham and Camp Petawawa before going overseas in March of 1943 with the Royal Canadian Engineers. 

He was with the RCE when he was wounded in France and a second message that he was listed as seriously ill from his wounds. It was his sister Rose that received the information of his wounding.  CDN 22/08/44

David was reported being severely wounded in France. CDN 22/08/44

David passed away 25 Dec. 1985  at the age of 79 years old,. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg, ON.
