Regimental number: 226110. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 4275 – 47 Item: 455323, PDF; B4275-SO47 Date of Birth: 17/11/1891 at Newcastle –on – Tyne, England. Son of Mrs. Ellen Henry of Northcroft Rd., West Ealing, London, England. A single farmer Living in Ridgetown, Howard Twsp., Kent Co.,ON. Attestation 20 October, 1915 at Ridgetown to CMR Depot. He had been away from England at that time for two years.  

Height: 5’ 5 ½’, Girth: 37 ¾ , Complexion: Fair. Eyes Blue, weight: 145 #. Medical 20/10/1at Ridgetown, 20/10/15.

Pte. Henry had his second toe on his left foot surgically shortened part of a operation to correct his flat feet. After the operation his foot was not good enough for the infantry but it was sufficient enough to put him in the Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was taken on strength 12/06/1916. He had transferred to the 9 Batt. Reserves in 17/09/16, and transferred to the 18th Batt. 6/11/16.

Arrived in England 30/05/16 aboard the S. S. Empress of Britain. 19/09/16, TOS. SOS to 18th Bn. TOS 6/1/16 with 18th Bn.  KIA (Field) 9/04/17.

John was killed during the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

(Pte. John Robert HENRY has no known grave. Not so see CVWM. Due to no current address no memorial awards were sent out
