The son of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Harris of 56 Degge St., Chatham, ON. A graduate of the Chatham Collegiate Institute ha joined the Canadian Postal Corp. in Victoria, BC.  He entered the active service force in October of 1942.

The Merlin Standard (1944 date unknown) Richard was stationed at Port Albany, BC. and was spending at three day leave visiting his sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Archie Prince of North Buxton. 

In Ottawa about nine months, as Postal clerk. Then to the 6th Division. Postal Unit going to Victoria and served on the west coast until February 1945. Returned to Peterborough for training. Then to Ottawa for nine months in Base past office.

Discharged January 30th, 1946.
