The son of Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Henderson of Forhan St., Wallaceburg, ON. john received his wings 6 April, 1943 and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer. He had enlisted as a ground crew but mustered to gain a commission. The WN 15/04/43 that he was on a  18 day leave before transfer to the east coast for further training.

 The WN 3/06/43(P) reported the P/O Henderson was stationed on the east coast and was studying navigation.

Stationed at London, ON. He was reported home on a week-end leave with his wife and son, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Broadwood of Cedar Springs, Kent Co., ON. His wife and child stayed when John returned. CDN 19/01/44

He was reported serving at Landplane Base, Halifax, NS.WN 27/01/44.
