Son of Clifford James and Bessie Gertrude Hedrick of Blenheim, he had brothers and four sisters. Born in Leamington in 1923 Edward grew up in Blenheim where he attended public school and was working in a grocery store prior to enlisting in the army
Edward was seventeen when he enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. in 1940 when the Kent Regiment mobilized. He remained with the Kent’s until transferring for overseas duty in May of 1943. He went to Italy in November of 1943 and had been there for about a year when he was killed. The CDN 3/01/45 reported that Mrs. Hedrick had been notified that their son had been KIA while serving in Italy
Age: 21, KIA – Date of Death: 20/12/1944, in Italy.
Besides his parents Edward had three brothers and four sisters.
